ΟυρολόγοςΟ κ. Τσαβαλάς αποφοίτησε από την Ιατρική Σχολή Αθηνών M.D. (Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο).
Παράλληλα μετά από διετή φοίτηση απέκτησε Μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο σπουδών M.Sc από την Ιατρική σχολή Αθηνών με θέμα την Ελάχιστα επεμβατική χειρουργική, ρομποτική και λαπαροσκοπική χειρουργική.
Συνέχισε την μετεκπαίδευση του, στην Νέα Υόρκη (ΗΠΑ) μετά από επιτυχή πρόσκληση μέσω βιογραφικού από τον καθηγητή Dr. K.Badani ως ερευνητικός υπότροφος από το Πανεπιστήμιο Columbia University of New York στην ρομποτική χειρουργική ουρολογία. International fellowship in Robotic surgery.
Παράλληλα εκπόνησε και τη διατριβή του με θέμα την χρήση endo-doppler στην ρομποτική ριζική προστατεκτομή.
Συνέχισε την μετεκπαίδευση του στην Μεγάλη Βρετανία αρχικά στο Royal London Hospital του Λονδίνου (Senior clinical fellow) με εξειδίκευση στην λιθίαση του ουροποιητικού και έπειτα από εξετάσεις στο St. George’s University Hospital of London όπου κατείχε την θέση μετεκπαιδευτικού υποτρόφου (post-CCT fellowship) Ρομποτικής και Λαπαροσκοπικής χειρουργικής νεφρού και προστάτη υπό τον δ/ντη Mr. Chris Anderson, πρωτοπόρο της λαπαροσκοπικής και ρομποτικής χειρουργικής στην Μεγάλη Βρετανία.
Κατέχει επί 10 έτη τον τίτλο του μόνιμου επιμελητή χειρουργικής ουρολογίας (consultant Urological surgeon), στο Πανεπιστημιακό νοσοκομείο του Εδιμβούργου Western General University Hospital of Edinburgh όπου εργάζεται από το 2014 μέχρι και σήμερα ανελλιπώς.
