Dr. Nikolaos Stathatos is an endocrinologist, specializing in endocrine oncology and endocrine hypertension, and is the director of the department of endocrine oncology and endocrine hypertension at the Athens Medical Center, a department that was created in 2025, upon the doctor’s return to Greece. However, he continues to work at Massachusetts General Hospital, as director of the Comprehensive Hypertension Unit with a clinical focus on endocrine hypertension. He is a member of the Thyroid Unit, a center specializing in thyroid cancer. He is a member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the same hospital, where many clinical studies are conducted in endocrine oncology (thyroid, adrenal)

The doctor is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Harvard Medical School since 2010.

He completed his residency in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Georgetown University Hospital (2002-2004) and George Washington University Hospital (2001-2002). He completed his residency in pathology at Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Hospital (1998-2001).

He received his medical degree Summa Cum Laude from Albert Szent Gyorgyi University in Szeged, Hungary (1991-1997).

He has a special clinical research interest in thyroid cancer and participates in clinical trials of new therapies at the Massachusetts General Hospital Oncology Center.

He also has a strong clinical interest in the endocrine causes of hypertension.
