Myths & Truths about permanent hemorrhoid recovery
What is Hemorrhoids?
Myth: Hemorrhoids are a condition that occurs in people who lead a sedentary lifestyle, i.e. people who work in offices, students and drivers.
Truth:Hemorrhoids They are vascular “cushions” in the anal area and perform two basic functions: continence, so that the intestine closes properly, and protection, that is, avoiding injuries to the intestine, which would lead to a tear, abscess or fistula. So when hemorrhoids are affected (they swell, grow and inflate), the tissues that hold them in place relax and cannot perform their functions. This condition is known as “hemorrhoidopathy”, which is the beginning of poor quality of life and daily suffering”.
What are the causes of its appearance?
Myth: Hemorrhoids appear in the elderly and in people who make excessive use of spicy foods.
Truth:Hemorrhoid, As mentioned above, it is a very common condition, which occurs in both sexes, affecting at least 50% of the world’s population. The main causes of its occurrence are constipation and heredity. Abandoning the Mediterranean diet, switching to diets that emphasize meat, sugar and “ready meals”, combined with a sedentary lifestyle and stress, lead to constipation and hemorrhoids. An additional cause is the increase in intra-abdominal pressure, namely pregnancy, obesity, intense coughing, lifting heavy weights, as well as advanced age and of course, heredity.
Treatment & Treatment:
Myth:Once they appear, there is no permanent treatment for hemorrhoids. Therefore, the only way to prevent it is to eat a diet rich in fiber.
Truth: Consumption Dietary fiber is an important factor in the prevention of hemorrhoids, but it is not enough. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables does not make us immune, they simply reduce the chances of hemorrhoids occurring or, more correctly, delay the progression of the disease. The evolution of technology and the use of minimally invasive methods constitute the permanent and definitive solution.
Combination of minimally invasive techniques, E-RaFisTura: Definitive and permanent solution:
Myth:Surgical treatment of hemorrhoids is very painful for the patient and does not offer permanent therapeutic results.
Truth:The latest technological developments in the field of radiofrequency therapy have “armed” our hands with a series of treatment techniques for each stage of the disease. In our case, by using the established and harmless radiofrequency technology, we intervene without causing any burns to those around them, completely targeted. The direct result of this specific method is the sublimation of the pathological tissue of the hemorrhoids, which shrinks and becomes normal. In practice, therefore, we do not remove or amputate the tissues. On the contrary, we treat hemorrhoids by avoiding complications such as incontinence and their recurrence..
Advantages of this combination of minimally invasive methods:
Myth: Even minimally invasive methods do not offer the patient what they promise because with their use, the incisions are large and destructive to the area.
Truth: With the use of this specific technique, and within a minimum time, which in most cases does not exceed 15 – 20 minutes, painlessly, bloodlessly, patients have a quick recovery and return to work and daily activities, the next day. Most importantly, however, patients are relieved immediately after the procedure, while at the same time, the possibility of hemorrhoids reappearing is eliminated.
The Surgical Clinic at Peristeri Hospital, which is under the direction of Dr. Anastasios Xiarchos, General Surgeon, is the only clinic in Greece and one of the few in Europe in which all treatment techniques are applied using the radiofrequency method. It is worth noting that this specific method was first applied in Greece, at the Athens Medical Group by Dr. Anastasios Xiarchos, and definitively treats “taboo” diseases (hemorrhoids, fistulas, coccygeal cyst).
The daily update on new technologies and materials, combined with the Group’s continuous investments in biomedical equipment, allows us to have the latest in modern treatment for surgical diseases of the anus. At the same time, and through the collaboration of the Interdisciplinary Team, we are able to offer the most personalized solution for each case, no matter how complex it may be.
Did you know that:
Education Center for Southern Europe in the revolutionary E-RaFisTura method is the Surgical Clinic of Peristeri Medical Center, under the direction of Dr. Anastasios Xiarchos, General Surgeon. The new, innovative combined method, which was applied for the first time in Greece, in the surgical clinic of Peristeri Medical Center, definitively treats the diseases of hemorrhoids, fistula and coccygeal cyst. It is the only training center in Greece and one of the few in Europe in this particular technique.
