Dr. Anastasios G. Xiarchos, a General Surgeon with many years of experience, has been the Director of the Proctology and Advanced Laparoscopy Center of Peristeri Medical Center, a member of the Athens Medical Group, since 2007. At the same time, he serves as the Director of the Anal Surgeons Training Center for Southeast Europe, training doctors in the most modern minimally invasive methods. He has worked as a Researcher and Lecturer at the Bioinformatics and Human Electrophysiology Laboratory of the Ionian University. His main clinical interests concern Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, with specialization in Anal Surgery (hemorrhoids, fistulas, coccygeal cyst), Digestive System Surgery and the repair of abdominal wall hernias.
Dr. Xiarchos graduated from the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace and received his specialty title in General Surgery after training at the “Metaxa” and “Evangelismos” Hospitals. He has received extensive training at leading international centers, such as the University of Strasbourg (IRCAD), where he was certified as a Console Surgeon in Robotic Surgery (da Vinci), as well as in specialized clinics in Austria (Krankenhaus Bludenz), France (Paris, Bordeaux), Germany (Frankfurt) and Canada (Montreal). His specialization includes modern techniques such as VAAFT, EPSiT, Rafaelo® and Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM).
His research and scientific work is particularly rich, with more than 365 scientific presentations at Greek and international conferences, while he is the first author on 180 papers. He has published numerous articles in prestigious international medical journals (Journal of Trauma, Japanese Journal of Gastroenterology, etc.) and chapters in scientific books. He is the Founder and President of the Hellenic Scientific Society of Orthopedic Surgery, as well as a founding member of the Hellenic Scientific Society of Robotic Surgery. He has been honored with the 2nd Prize for best research paper, while he actively participates as an invited speaker and member of scientific committees in international surgical fora.
