Athens Medical Center, first and only founding member of the international PERT Consortium network in Greece
The Athens Medical Center becomes the first and only hospital in Greece to officially join the international PERT Consortium network, acquiring the title of Founding Member of the PERT Consortium in Greece. This distinction seals the collaboration that began in 2020, when the Athens Medical Center established the interdisciplinary Pulmonary Embolism Management Team.
With this collaboration, the Athens Medical Center actively participates in a global effort to record, analyze and improve the treatment of a serious and often life-threatening condition.
The PERT Consortium, based at Massachusetts General Hospital, is the most recognized international organization for the multidisciplinary approach to pulmonary embolism. It maintains the largest global database of relevant cases, and shapes the guidelines in the USA, Europe and internationally. The recognition of the Athens Medical Center as an international partner demonstrates the high scientific level and organizational readiness of the Athens Medical Group.
The interdisciplinary team of the Athens Medical Center in connection with the international network of the PERT Consortium ensures immediate, coordinated and specialized care for patients with pulmonary embolism, with an emphasis on early diagnosis, the implementation of internationally recognized therapeutic protocols, as well as continuous monitoring.
At the same time, patients gain access to innovative therapies through participation in international clinical trials.
This collaboration was organized and implemented under the scientific responsibility of Dr. Angeliki Eleftheriou, Director of the Cardiology Clinic of the Athens Medical Center, who emphasized in her statements: “Our participation in the PERT Consortium is the culmination of a long-term and coordinated effort to offer Greek patients the most immediate, multi-level and modern care in the treatment of pulmonary embolism, based on the strictest international standards.”
