State-of-the-art radiosurgical tumor treatment system at the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki
In the context of the opening of the new International Oncology Center, the first, in Northern Greece, ultra-modern radiosurgery system EDGE of the company Varian was installed and is operating, in the Department of Radiation Oncology and Stereotactic Radiosurgery of the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki, offering new possibilities and options in the treatment of oncology patients.
The Athens Medical Group, always one step ahead, continues to invest in innovation with a focus on health and secured the specialized system that allows the execution of non-invasive radiosurgery treatments (SRS/ SBRT) with simultaneous localization of the target tumor in real time.
This specific treatment concerns patients with tumors in the brain (benign or malignant), in the lung, the spine, as well as in other parts of the body. Especially for intracranial treatments, there is the possibility of applying the HyperArc technique which achieves maximum precision in the simultaneous irradiation of multiple brain tumors.
The Radiotherapy Department of the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki is the largest in Northern Greece and in the 24 years of its operation, more than 476,000 medical procedures have been performed. It has three (3) Linear Accelerators (Radiotherapy Systems) of the latest generation and all the state-of-the-art equipment, which guarantees the accuracy, safety and effectiveness of the treatment of neoplastic diseases. The use of cutting-edge technology combined with the many years of experience of Radiation Oncologists, supported by the highly specialized Medical Physics team, allow the treatment of the most complex oncological cases and ensure the provision of comprehensive care to patients with international recognition of their work.
