Press Release: Premiere in the education of Medical students of the European University of Cyprus at the Athens Medical Group

The practical training of students of the Medical School of the European University Cyprus (EUC) at the Athens Medical Group has begun within the framework of the Strategic Agreement concluded between the two parties.

The first cycle, which began this week, involves a total of 37 Medical students from the 4th, 5th and 6th year of study, who will receive practical training in the high-tech clinics of the Athens Medical Center and the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki, under the guidance of distinguished scientists of the Group.

The first group of students was welcomed by the General Manager of the Group, George Zerdilas, the Emeritus Professor of Vascular Surgery of the University of Athens and President of the Scientific Council of the Athens Medical Center, Christos D. Liapis, the Scientific Director of the Athens Medical Center, Dr. Konstantinos M. Konstantinidis and the Director of Medical Services of the Athens Medical Center Dr. Haris Pittaros.

The executives emphasized the enormous importance that the Group attaches to education and research, as a strategic choice, considering the interconnection of education with applied medicine to be crucial. They also underlined the opportunity offered to students to train in clinics that have innovative, top-quality technological equipment with the support of distinguished and world-renowned scientists, who adorn the Athens Medical Group.

The Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation between the Athens Medical Group, the largest Greek Healthcare Group, and the European University of Cyprus, one of the most important academic and research centers in Southern Europe, has a ten-year duration and provides, among other things, for the practical training of medical students in the Group’s high-tech and staffed hospitals in Athens and Thessaloniki, staffed by leading scientists.

The European University of Cyprus is one of the leading academic and research centers in Southern Europe and is a member of Galileo Global Education, the largest European University Organization, with a network of 54 institutions, in more than 80 campuses in 10 countries, in which more than 170,000 students study.
