International distinction for the “Morbid Obesity & Metabolic Disorders Clinic” of the Interbalkan Medical Center
The “Morbid Obesity & Metabolic Disorders Clinic” of the Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki has been certified as a Center of Excellence (CENTER OF EXCELLENCE) by the world’s leading international body, the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders – IFSO), following a rigorous evaluation process, three years of monitoring the Clinic’s medical procedures, and an inspection carried out at the Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki by members of the IFSO European Committee. This is the highest international distinction in the provision of specialized healthcare services to patients with morbid obesity and has been awarded to only a limited number of hospitals worldwide.
At the same time, the Director of the Clinic, Dr. Ilias Kon. Sdralis, was re-certified as a Surgeon of Excellence (SURGEON OF EXCELLENCE) in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery.
At the Morbid Obesity & Metabolic Disorders Clinic of the Interbalkan Medical Center, all modern bariatric surgical techniques are performed by Surgeon of Excellence Mr. Sdralis, while the holistic and personalized management of bariatric patients is also ensured through the collaboration of a large multidisciplinary medical team, including an anesthesiologist, interventional cardiologist, pulmonologist, radiologist, gastroenterologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, two dietitians, as well as specialized nursing staff.
The inspection focused on the high standard of operation of the surgical departments, the intensive care unit, patient information and service procedures, as well as matters concerning the operation of the responsible medical team.
This highest-level distinction awarded to the “Morbid Obesity & Metabolic Disorders Clinic” certifies the high quality of the services provided and ensures effectiveness at every stage of surgical treatment.
