ATHENS MEDICAL CENTER: OVER 250 SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS WITH THE PIONEER S.L.C (SEPTUM LASER CORRECTION) METHOD TO ADDRESS CASES OF MISPLACED NASAL DIAPHRAGM
Athens, April 3, 2018 – More than 250 successful surgeries have been performed in the last 3 years at the Department of Study and Treatment of Respiratory Disorders in Children and Adults at the Athens Medical Center, with the innovative method S.L.C (Septum Laser Correction) for the treatment of cases of deviated nasal septum, by Miltiadis Sintoris, ENT Surgeon, Director of the department and his team.
This specific method uses non-destructive laser radiation, thermally and mechanically affecting the cartilage for bloodless and painless correction of certain deformities of the nasal septum, without affecting the integrity of the surrounding tissues. In this context, the S.L.C method can provide a solution to certain cases of nasal obstruction and the problems it creates.
“This specific method is non-invasive, completely safe and simple, while the patient is not subjected to general anesthesia and does not need to be hospitalized,” said Miltiadis Sintoris, Head and Neck Surgeon, Director of the Department of Study and Treatment of Respiratory Disorders in Children and Adults of the Athens Medical Center. “Therefore, the rehabilitation is immediate and is carried out without restriction in people with chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes mellitus) over the age of 12. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that out of the 251 patients, after approximately one year and within the framework of the follow-up, only 7% showed a slight recurrence of the displacement (cartilage memory), without causing any difficulty breathing.”
