Athens, July 27, 2021 – The Athens Medical Group was named the Golden Protagonist for the Decade 2010-2020 in the Medical Services sector, within the framework of the Awards-Institution “The Protagonists of the Greek Economy”, which was organized with great success for the 6th time by the Direction Business Network”.

The Medical Group achieved this top distinction through the unbiased and established process followed by the Direction evaluation committee, taking into account the total turnover and profits before taxes for the time-economic period from 2010 to 2019.

In a critical decade where the country faced successive and severe crises, the Athens Medical Group consolidated its leading position in Greek healthcare, constantly investing – against the adverse environment – in cutting-edge medical technologies, in innovative methods, in top medical personnel and know-how, achieving significant “brain gain”. It is worth noting that in the decade 2010-2020, the Group completed investments of more than 87 million euros, increased jobs, and achieved a series of important new firsts, with a focus on innovation, the top quality of the health services provided, and the great contribution to the Greek patient and Greek society.

In addition to the Golden Protagonist of the Decade award, Athens Medical Group was also the only medical group/healthcare provider to receive the “Solidarity Excellence Award”, “for its commitment to the value of human life and the solidarity it demonstrated in practice towards society with the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic”, as Athens Medical Group led the national effort to combat the pandemic, setting an example of corporate responsibility and contribution from the very beginning.

The Golden Protagonist award, as well as the Solidarity Excellence Award for the decade 2010-2020, was received by the CEO of Athens Medical Group, Dr. Vasilis G. Apostolopoulos, who, among other things, stated:
