Dr. Emmanuel Brilakis, MD, MSc, PhD, was born in January 1976 in Athens, where he lives and works. He is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Shoulder, Knee and Sports Orthopedics. He is married and the father of two children.

He graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2003. He then completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the 2nd Orthopedic Clinic of the same university. He subsequently received specialized training in Shoulder Surgery at the Center for Arthroscopic and Open Shoulder Surgery in Athens, which is a recognized training center by ESSKA and ISAKOS. In addition, he obtained a postgraduate degree (MSc) in Metabolic Bone Diseases in 2010 and completed his doctoral thesis in the field of Finite Element Analysis in 2018.

In 2017, he was appointed as a Curator at the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic of HYGEIA Hospital, which is a recognized ESSKA & ISAKOS educational center, while in 2020 he assumed the position of Deputy Director of the same clinic. In 2025, he assumed the position of Director at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Modern Arthroscopic and Robotic Surgery of the Medical Center of Psychiko. He is the founder of the medical company “Brilakis Orthopaedics” and examines patients in its clinics, in Paleo Faliro and Psychiko.

In the past, he was the head physician of sports teams, most famously the women’s basketball teams of Olympiacos Piraeus and Panionios G.S. Today, he monitors high-level athletes from track and field, gymnastics, basketball, martial arts, etc., while he is also a medical consultant to basketball teams and track and field athletes.
