Cardiologist – Interventional Electrophysiologist, Assistant Professor of Cardiology, National University of Athens
Scientific Director of the Pacing and Electrophysiology Laboratory of the Model Heart and Vascular Center “Athens Heart Center”, Athens Medical Center
Dimitris Tsiachris is a Cardiologist – Interventional Electrophysiologist, scientifically responsible for the Model Heart and Vascular Center “Athens Heart Center” at the Athens Medical Center.
He was admitted to the Medical School of the University of Athens through the Panhellenic examinations in 1995. He trained at the Hippocrates Hospital of Athens under the direction of Professor Christodoulos Stefanadis, and specialized in interventional electrophysiology at the renowned Milan Hospital “San Rafaelle” next to Paolo Della Bella with a scholarship from the Hellenic Cardiological Society.
He has specialized in performing all conventional and complex procedures of interventional electrophysiology (catalysis – ablation of supraventricular arrhythmias, implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular systems).
He is a trainer (proctor) for performing ablation of atrial fibrillation using the latest cryocoagulation systems both in Greece and in Europe.
The Athens Heart Center laboratory also performs complex cathalyses of ventricular tachycardia using the most modern electroanatomical mapping system, both endocardially and epicardially.
He has also specialized in the implantation of new miniature pacemakers without wires, in percutaneous closure of the left atrial appendage for stroke prevention (left atrial appendage closure), in fully subcutaneous defibrillator implantations and in renal denervation.
His research interest has focused on the treatment of atrial fibrillation, the prevention of sudden cardiac death, the treatment of heart failure and complex ventricular tachycardia catalysis in continuous collaboration with San Rafaelle.
He has published a total of over 500 scientific articles (140 full publications and 400 in the form of abstracts). Specifically, he has published 110 full articles in international medical journals, most of which in prestigious journals. He has written chapters of scientific books and is a reviewer in many international medical journals.
