Infectious Termite

Infectious dermatitis is a skin virus characterized by the presence of clinically distinct, skin-colored, lesions that can be located anywhere on the body.

Children, due to their activities at school and their nature (many contacts during play), are the most frequent and sensitive targets. Scratching the lesions with the hands and touching other parts of the skin, due to their high contagiousness, causes the appearance of more.

In children suffering from atopic dermatitis, the lesions are usually numerous and spread very quickly. In addition, it is considered a Sexually Transmitted Disease when it appears in the genital area.

Clinically, the lesions are relatively characteristic, helping the dermatologist to make an easy diagnosis. They reach a size of 2-5mm, are clearly visible, appear in groups and usually occupy a large area of the skin. In cases where the lesions have been abused and injured, they may then make their morphology less clear.

The most effective treatment is scraping with or without local anesthesia. Depending on the age of the child, his cooperation and the location of the lesions (e.g. face) we choose whether to apply local anesthesia or not. In case we need to apply local anesthesia, this is done 30-60 minutes before the operation, using lidocaine cream. Also, in patients who are willing to endure the pain, another method of choice is cryosurgery.

Finally, in patients with atopic dermatitis who have infectious terminthoses, the dermatitis should be treated at the same time, because the disrupted skin barrier favors the transmission of the virus to other healthy areas.

In a minority of cases, individual lesions may disappear without treatment in six to twelve months.
