The Athens Medical Group achieves a historical first and consolidates its position as a reference point in the quality and safety of health services. Athens Medical Center has received the Gold Seal of Approval® from the international organization Joint Commission International (JCI), making the Athens Medical Group the first in Greece with two JCI-accredited hospitals.

Following the accreditation of Thessaloniki Interbalkan Medical Center, the first hospital in Northern Greece to receive this international recognition, the inclusion of Athens Medical Center in the network of JCI accredited organizations confirms the Group’s strategic choice to operate with the highest international standards of quality and safety, ensuring a uniform level of care regardless of geographical location.

The JCI international accreditation is a result extensive, independent and multi-level evaluation based on 1,100 measurable criteria, which cover the entire operation of a modern hospital: from patient safety and surgical care to medication management, infection prevention and systematic training of human resources.

For the patients and associates of the Athens Medical Group, this accreditation translates into documented clinical practices, systematic quality controls and high levels of safety at every stage of care, strengthening the operational consistency and international credibility of the Group.

The President of the Athens Medical Group, Dr. Vasilis G. Apostolopoulos, stated in this regard: “The Athens Medical Group is now the first Group in Greece, and one of the few groups in Europe, with two hospitals accredited by JCI. This is an achievement that is not just a distinction, but practical proof of organizational maturity, consistency and investment in excellence. Our choice to adopt the strictest global standards is not circumstantial, it is strategic. Our goal is for our patients, whether in Athens or Thessaloniki, to enjoy the same high level of safety, transparency and evidence-based care, in accordance with the standards applied in the leading hospitals internationally.”
