Most common sports injuries & their treatment
The most common sports injuries in my 30-year tenure in the sports and football world that are treated at the Paleo Faliro Medical Center are:
- The rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, the main stabilizing factor of the knee, accompanied or not by a meniscus tear.
- The muscle strains of all the muscles of the body, mainly of the lower limbs and the shoulder girdle.
There are many surgical techniques for treating the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. At the Orthopedic Clinic of the Medical P. Faliros, the treatment is done with a biological graft reinforced with some MARK II material and more commonly.
With the arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligamentoplasty with the LARS ligament, during the 30 years that I have been using the above method exclusively and especially in professional athletes of recognized value, we have a faster return to full athletic activity (3 months), very fast walking without the use of a cast and a functional splint, without injuring or removing other tendon units of the knee, weakening its muscle strength and avoiding various types of meningitis due to the collagenization of the graft within 5 months by the body itself and its complete integration.
During the 30 years of treatment in our clinic, we have not encountered a ligament rupture or rejection, dispelling any prejudice.
Regarding the treatment of sprains or tendonitis of these degrees and all muscle groups of the shoulder girdle, the treatment with plasma cell infusion after pumping by the patient, their centrifugation (P.R.P.) and their deposition under the accompaniment of ultrasound guidance, during the 15 years of treatment by our clinic, we have accelerated the healing time and even avoided the recurrence of the wound.
