“Alliance for Health and Safety: Gizelis Robotics and the Athens Medical Group join forces in the fight against the Covid-19 virus.”

Athens June 17, 2021 – An alliance that opens new paths in the fight against general infections and the coronavirus has begun with the vehicle of modern robotic technology. The Athens Medical Center, the leading healthcare services group in Greece and Southeastern Europe, collaborated with Gizelis Robotics in testing the certified and autonomous “Made in Greece” RobotSafe disinfection robots, developed by the Greek automation systems and robotic applications company Gizelis Robotics. According to the relevant planning, the Athens Medical Center proceeded with the study and operation of the installation of Gizelis fogging robots in medical service areas and operating rooms, as well as UV-C technology robots in rooms and other closed areas of the hospital.

RobotSafe is the leading disinfection robot with fogging and UV-C technologies for the neutralization of germs, viruses, bacteria and Covid-19, developed by the Greek team of Gizelis Robotics. This robot is designed to help businesses remain operational, aiming to effectively disinfect the spaces of both employees and visitors. According to the technical measurements and certification of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute and the Athens Medical Group, RobotSafe ensures reliability and effectiveness in its application, ensuring a hygienic and safe operating environment for both employees and customers.

It is noted that the advanced technology and the integrated software that has been implemented enable the robot to recognize its path, avoid any obstacles, dynamically redesign the path it must follow and spray at the points that need disinfection, with control and results before and after the disinfectant spray.

After the tests were completed and all the goals regarding the effectiveness of the robot were achieved, the Athens Medical Group, having as its main priority the safety of patients, attendants and medical and nursing staff, proceeded to extend the agreement with Gizelis Robotics. After the Athens Medical Center, RobotSafe visited the Peristeri Medical Center clinic, providing its high-quality services to the clinic, offering another level of protection to the already safe hospitals of the Athens Medical Group. Based on a specific schedule, the robot will soon visit the other hospitals of the Group.

In addition to joining forces with the aim of developing Greek robotic technology, the cooperation has a strategic nature as the two CEOs of the companies are members of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs’ Association (E.E.N.E). The Association’s goal is to develop wealth and surplus value in Greece, by strengthening production, innovation and competitiveness. This common goal was served in practice by the cooperation that began between the Athens Medical Group and Gizelis Robotics, which will be long-lasting and continuous, for the benefit of Greek production, entrepreneurship and society. Another tool, with the cutting edge of Greek know-how and technology “made in Greece”, enters the quiver of the country and businesses in the fight against the Pandemic.

Mr. Evangelos Gizelis, founder and CEO of Gizelils Robotics emphasizes: “The cooperation with the Athens Medical Group on RobotSafe is a strong vote of confidence in our technology. It is particularly honorable for Gizelis Robotics that a leading group in the healthcare sector that operates with the highest international quality and safety standards, embraces RobotSafe. We are convinced that the challenge of the pandemic, the need to meet the high demands created for a safe work environment from contamination and the safe return to normality, today and in the near future, creates opportunities for partnerships and alliances using innovation and robotic technology as a vehicle.”

Dr. Vasilis Apostolopoulos, CEO of the Athens Medical Group, noted: “It is our goal at the Athens Medical Group to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies related to the healthcare sector, and robotic technology is now, in the field of ‘disinfection’ as well, a key tool for promoting health and another useful ally in the fight against the pandemic. Robotic solutions are the future, and true to our motto, we will continue to always be one step ahead, supporting the technologies of tomorrow and contributing to their development. It gives us great pleasure to collaborate with Greek businesses that share the same vision, and to support the work of Greek minds, scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs, who create jobs and added value in Greece. Congratulations to the working groups, on both sides, for their important work and success.”
