The SOS of a balanced diet
A balanced diet is based on love for our body. Therefore, the more interest / love we give to our food, the more it will return it to us.
Ideally we should remember:
- We prefer foods that are as little processed as possible. We strive for a variety of foods in order to take advantage of the unique nutritional profile of each individual food.
- We choose higher quality standardized foods.
- We prefer foods with a high fiber content, while consuming water and olive oil for intestinal balance.
- We avoid one-sided diets that are based on food exclusion.
- Seek simplicity in your diet, adopting the Mediterranean diet and a variety of fresh, seasonal foods.
- We consume food consciously and wisely, without excesses.
- In social obligations, we eat with empathy, trying to have a good time without focusing on food.
- The weekly shopping is done based on a healthy diet so that we do not have temptations in our home.
- We try to set the right example for our children even if we are not perfect.
Also, in this year’s celebration of World Food Day, the International Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) points out that in order to protect the natural environment, it would be legitimate to:
- Choose seasonal and local products and foods that require less water or other natural resources for their production.
- Support small food producers. Small local farmers’ markets often promote local varieties and biodiversity and
- Learn how to read food labels correctly to choose wisely.
- A variety of foods, in addition to contributing to a balanced diet, also supports biodiversity.
- Reduce food waste.
